And He’s Off!

Phil left yesterday for Rumson, New Jersey to play the National 65 Grass Courts.  He missed this tournament last year because he was just starting to deal with his prostate cancer.  Happily that is all a distant memory and we’ve moved on.

Tom and Phil are playing doubles together and seeded first. In singles, Phil is seeded 5-9 and has his first match tomorrow. He drew a tough first round, a former ATP tour player. Phil played and lost  to him  years ago. The question is how much has his opponent, Fernando Gentil, been playing lately? Phil has had time to get a game plan together and be mentally ready.  Doubles is on Wednesday.

We’ve had a rainy, windy Labor Day here thanks to a tropical system blowing through. Ellie and I have watched the US Open, read and napped. Perfect day! I’m continuing on my path of playing and training for my first tournament in early October.

I’ll post Phil’s singles results tomorrow.
