Wow

I’ve been at ease all week long with waiting for match results. Today I had an easier day of work with not much to  occupy my time... which gave me way to much free time to worry about what was happening in Phil’s singles match.

He started at 10:30 and by 12:15 no news.  Ugh!  I texted Tom, Phil’s double partner.  Phil had just split sets.  Here come the butterflies again...that familiar fluttery knot that takes hold until you know it’s over.  Phil pulled out the third set 6-4! What a great win over a great player but I also see it as a great moral victory. Remembering how to win is difficult after having not played singles for so long.

Coming back to play doubles was tough. But Phil held up well and they won 6-4, 6-2.

Tomorrow is two finals matches.  I’m so proud of the effort and willingness to put it on the line, not knowing what would happen. So far so good! But it’s not over yet!
