One to More to Go

It was another routine day at the office for Phil and Tom.  They won their semifinal match today 6-2,6-1.  Phil seems very pleased with how he is playing.  He keeps talking of the confidence he has on the court, and I love hearing it.  At this level of tennis, and after all the many years that he has put on the court, confidence is the most important tool to have your racquet bag.  Many times Phil has said that if he trains hard to prepare for an event, then he deserves to do well.  I know for a fact that he has put in his time both on and off the court.  So there is no doubt that he deserves to do well.  Combine the mental toughness with the physical preparation, and good things will happen.

They play the #1 seeds, a very good team from Oregon, who have a west coast "swag".  Nothing would make me happier than to see Phil and Tom knock these guys out.  They are all friends off the court and have great respect for one another.  On the court they take no prisoners.  Phil and Tom will have to play sharp and smart to win.  Having total trust in your shots and confidence in yourself and in your partner is key.  Tomorrow is going to be their day!

The match is scheduled for 1:00 California time.  It'll be a long afternoon of waiting for results for me.  Ellie and I will find something fun to occupy our time.
