It seems like Phil has been gone forever, and ever and ever. But today he finally played. He and Tom won handily, 6-2, 6-0. Getting to Irvine early was important to acclimate to the time change, court surface, etc. but it can make for a long week until the first match is played.
Phil has made so many friends through all his years of playing. He has earned the respect of his playing peers not only because of his high level of play and accomplishments on the court, but also
because of the genuine friend he is to all these guys. He is so in his element at these events, which is one of the many reasons I encourage him to travel and play. There is so much more to what he (or we) do than just play.
It looks like I am about a week away from getting off the scooter and walking again. I can hardly wait!!
Phil's match is tomorrow afternoon at 2. Results posted tomorrow night again.
