Phil left this morning for Atlanta. He and Tom are seeded first and don't play until Friday. It's always best for Phil to get to a tournament a day or two ahead. He can get a couple of practices in, then get started. The draws are small, so if things go as planned (winning each match) he will have 3 total matches. Exactly what he and Tom need before heading out to California next month. Phil has worked hard this past month and deserves to do well. Stranger things have happened, but my money is on Phil and Tom this week.
I am recovering well from my surgery. It's only been 10 days, but feels like a month. I'm over this scooter thing for transportation. I still at least a day or more to go. I get the stitches out tomorrow and hope to progress to a walking boot. Right now everything is such a production to do. I must say I've become pretty adept at moving around on this thing. Ellie has become accustomed to it as well. She's walks around me and seems to know where not to be when I'm on the move. Phil has been just great in taking on some of the normal stuff I do. It's been a challenge for both of us, but he's really been helpful with some of the crazy challenges we've faced with my lack of mobility. We're a team!
I feel a little guilty for not working much right now. There's just not much I can do. Phil has handled the lesson load, and Betsy the pro shop stuff. I've enjoyed some quiet time at home in the mornings. It's been a long time since I've done nothing. I'm learning to draw, so that has kept me occupied. I have been into work a few times, but home around noon each day. This has been the perfect time to have something like this done. Not exactly how I would recommend having time off, but none the less, a good time of year to choose to do it. I'd much prefer to be having time off in Bora Bora...perhaps another time!!
I will post again after Phil plays his first match on Friday afternoon. I think Phil and Tom are on their way to a great tournament season!
