Time to Get Ready Again

It's been almost two months, since we've had any action.  Season has ended, I've just had a minor surgery to revise a scar from 13 years ago, and Phil is ready to get back in action.

We had a very busy season and it's nice to see things starting to slow down.  Phil and I agree that this was our best season of the six (yes six!) that we have been here. The days and months rolled by smoothly.  Now it is time to slow down, get healthy and collect ourselves.

This past Friday I had surgery to repair a scar from an Achilles tendon surgery I had many years ago.  Overtime the scar had become an outward, large grape sized, irritated mass of skin that was unbearable with any type of shoe rubbing against it.  Particularly a tennis shoe.  Because of the location on my heel, a couple of other doctors who looked at it through the years, would not touch it.  Citing location, lack of blood supply, blah blah blah.  Desperate, I found this wonderful Orthopedic foot and ankle podiatrist who looked at it and said I can help you.  YEA!!!!!!   I'm non weight bearing for another 10 days or so, but I am so happy.  Finally relief.  Phil has been wonderful with his nursing skills.  I am somewhat stubborn staying still, because I have this little knee walker/scooter that makes me mobile.  I'll be back to work tomorrow, and looking forward to getting back out again.  Ellie isn't quite sure what to make of all this, but she still stays close!

Phil is playing doubles in Atlanta next week.  He leaves on Tuesday or Wednesday and will be gone for the weekend.  By then I should be much more mobile.  He and Tom Smith will be playing just doubles. This is not Phil's favorite tournament to play and I hate that I can't go with him.  He will be gone for a long weekend.  He and Tom have a long term goal toward the World Championships which is being played in the US this year.  Not only in the US, but practically in our backyard in Lake Nona at the new USTA National Campus.  We had the opportunity last weekend to get a behind the scenes tour of this fabulous facility.  WOW!  What an awesome place! So the journey begins for Phil and Tom to play this Category ll national in Atlanta, then play the rest of the summer and fall in the various nationals leading up to the World's in October.

I'll post on Phil's results in Atlanta next week and on how my progress is going on my recovery.  I have every intention of getting healed, healthy, fit and back on the court!  Phil needs someone to push him around the court!  Plus it's hard to win a husband/wife national without the wife!
