In the Books

It seems like weeks ago that Phil left for Atlanta, but of course it's only been two days.  He's had a couple of good days of practice, even on the hard courts which is good for his trip in June to California.  He was ready to play by the time this afternoon rolled around.  First Tom had to play his 60's doubles (which he won) before Phil and Tom played their 65's match.  The team they played is a good team.  Phil needed to revenge a lost to one of the players from a couple of years ago.  Phil played with a different partner as did the opponent.

Ellie and I spent the afternoon just hanging out, finding ways to while away the time.  We went for an old fashioned drive around town....top down, with Ellie's ears whipping in the wind.  It was a good way to get us both out, without getting out of the car.  My stitches were not ready to come out as planned yesterday.  Dr. M put me in a boot and crutches and would like for me to put 50% weight on boot and other 50% on crutches.  I use the scooter for longer jaunts, especially when I take Ellie out. So now I'm armed and dangerous with all these "walking" apparatuses.  All of this is a minor inconvenience.  Soon I will be up and around with no problems.  I'm waiting until Monday to head back to work.  Betsy is doing a great job of holding down the fort.  I think Ellie misses work more than I do!

Just as I was "rolling" out the door to take Ellie for her long "walk", Phil called to report that he and Tom had won 7-6, 6-2.  This could have been the toughest team they will play this weekend, but you can't take anything for granted.  Tomorrow is the semi finals.
