Week (weak) in the Knees

Phil played just doubles this week in the category ll national held at nearby Sterling Oaks in Naples. There were over over 300 entrants from all over the country signed up for both singles and doubles in ages groups 55-90. Yes, there were two guys signed up for the 90 singles...pretty impressive and inspirational! To accommodate such large numbers of players, matches were farmed out to other clubs during the early part of the week, as well as to our Spanish Wells Club.

Phil's knee is really becoming an issue. More so for playing than anything. If all he did was work, it'd be no big deal, but for him to try to work and play....not gonna happen.

He and Tom easily won their first match or two. Until the finals all matches were playing a 10 point tiebreaker for the third set. With each match played Phil's knee was swelling in size and the pain was increasing. He was playing on what looked liked one leg, leaving a lot of court for Tom to cover. Their semi final match was against two crafty lefty's. Knowing Phil was hampered, they did the smart thing and played him as much they could. Phil couldn't hold up his part and they lost in the 3 set match tie break. Needless to say, Phil was very disappointed in losing. He and Tom did win their playoff for 3rd and 4th. It has been a long tough week and taken a toll on his knee. Phil will see the doctor this week and see what his next step is. All future tournaments are on hold until we know for sure what our next course of action is on his knee.

There has to be an answer to all this. I just want him to have some relief from the pain and swelling!
