St. Patty's Day Surgery

Looks like Phil is on target to have his knee replaced on March 17th. Not what we were hoping for so soon, but looks like it's the best option at this point.

He has exhausted all options from cortisone to PRP treatments, and everything in between. Phil has had no relief from any of the treatments. We met with the surgeon last week, Dr Guerra, who we both have a great deal of faith and trust in. Dr. Guerra took another X-ray last week of Phil's left knee and it shows significant change and deterioration in the short time since the initial injury, eight months ago. I hate to see Phil in so much pain, but at least it validates the need for the surgery.

Our season is still going, with about another 6 weeks to go. Our leagues are winding down which will lighten our clinic load. I will take a few days off while he is in the hospital and the first couple days he is home. Then we'll figure it out from there.

So many people have given us so much advice...probably the most important bits of information we've taken away from all this is:

*stay AHEAD of the pain!
* be DILIGENT with the rehab!
* keep MOVING!

I'll post as much as I can to keep everyone updated.

Here we go!

Had my left one replaced on Feb. 17. Have already had six outings on the courts, practicing volleys. Even had John Cork feeding me last time out. :-)

The first week sucked, but the progress since has been *amazing*. Very happy that I had it done.

Happy to compare notes.
