It was a very hot and windy day in Cleveland, with the heat index staying right at 100 degrees today. There were some very good singles and doubles matches played in the extreme heat, with few problems. I saw one player get overheated in a doubles match this afternoon. Phil won his singles match 6-0, 6-3, and played well. I volunteered to umpire a match and was able to call the score for Barry Bray's match. Barry is a mainly a doubles player, so he struggled with the singles, but it was inspiring to watch two 80 year olds out there in the heat of the day playing singles!

We had a wonderful, impromptu, mini Hidden Dunes reunion at lunch today. Marge Miller, Rita Moore, Nancy Kermode, the Davidsons, and the Brays joined us at the court-side clubhouse grill. Really fun catching up and chatting with everyone! Such a great group of people. I have known most of them for the better part of 25 plus years. Even though I started a new chapter in my life, the friendships of old continue on. So blessed!
Tonight is a banquet dinner for all the players, guests and sponsors. I'm not sure what the total match count is at the end of today, but I think the US is pretty far ahead. Phil will play a doubles match tomorrow morning, then after the last matches are played, and the awards ceremonies are completed, we'll head back to Columbus for the night. Thunderstorms are expected to blow through and bring in cooler temps for tomorrow. A welcome change!
