Fun Weekend

Today has been a whirlwind of activity! We woke up early this morning in Cleveland to some pretty heavy rains, not unexpected. The alternate plans for the matches were to use the indoor courts if needed today. Phil was able to get on around 10:00 for his only doubles match of the day. There were plenty of spectators waiting to watch him play...he was the only player there with a traveling posse!

Phil and his partner had a tough doubles match and lost 6-3, 6-4. Phil played well, but their opponents were just too tough. We headed back to Columbus before all the matches were finished, so we don't know what the final match count was between the countries. We do know that the US had a big lead and had clinched early on this morning. It was an awesome event to be a part of, and if our schedule will allow we'll try to get to London, Ontario next year for the 64th Annual Gordon Trophy. That would be another mini Hidden Dunes reunion, as there is a large contingent of winter guests from London who winter at Hidden Dunes. The fun never stops!

We spent a wonderful evening back in Columbus with Phil's son and daughter in law, Chris and Lily, and grand baby Pierce. It was great to be able to tie in all the family, friends and tennis in one trip. Having said that, we're pretty tired from being on the go, and eager to return home tomorrow.

We have an 8:00 am flight (direct!) to Ft. Meyers tomorrow morning, so we should be back at our house in Naples by 11:00, to rest up and enjoy a quiet Sunday afternoon.

It's a welcome relief to both of us to know that we can leave work in the very capable hands of Dave, and know that things will run smoothly. A big thanks to Dave for a great job!

The next event I will be blogging will be Phil's National Indoors in Boise, Idaho beginning August 18th.

Myke,
Good seeing you and Phil at the Gordon Cup. I thought Phil played a wonderful doubles match. Looking forward to seeing you at TC in February. Until then ...
All the best,
Nick
