Not So Sunny South

Even though I checked the Atlanta forecast before we came, I still wasn't quite prepared for the damp chill that has set in here. The temps aren't too bad...maybe low 70's, but the overcast, misty, damp conditions seem bone chilling to me. My blood must be thinning since moving further south.

Phil played an early match this morning. I found a protected spot out of the cool breeze to watch. The courts are nice, but because they are Hydro courts (underground watering system) they are very slippery. Most of the players are commenting on how unsure the footing is on these courts. Phil lost the first two games of the match. My stomach was in my throat. He then proceeded to win the next seven games. I never relax with his matches until they're shaking hands at the net. After wining the first set 6-2, Phil closed out the match by winning the second set 6-4. The guy he played was hit or miss...a few winners here and there, then quite a few misses. I thought Phil played pretty well, he of course, was not so pleased, but happy to get the first match out of the way. He plays tomorrow at 10:00 against a pesky little opponent. I have a feeling Phil will come out focused and playing with a purpose. Doubles starts tomorrow. Would love to see some sunshine!

congrats on the win which I checked online - hope for more of the same today! And I sure hope the sun comes out to warm things up. Dreary few days here too - total fog right now and yesterday the rain was awful. Oh well, we are
spoiled! Look forward to today's results! L&G
