Our trip to Atlanta was uneventful, and by the time we got to the hotel and settled in it was pretty late.
I knew I was tired, and I knew I needed a change of scenery from the past few months of intense work. But I didn't know how much I needed it until I laid my head down last night. As I started to fall asleep, I realized I was on no time schedule and had no responsibilities...at all. I slept the best I've slept in months and woke up feeling refreshed and relaxed. Wow! What an awesome feeling! I'd like to find a way to bottle that up and be able to use it as needed! I know much of the pressure I put on myself during our busy season is self imposed. I'm overly conscience or borderline obsessive...probably a little of both.
Of course I'm here to watch and cheer Phil on. He has set up a practice time later today, and I'll hang out watching and seeing tennis friends from all over. I'm not able to hit yet because of my wrist surgery (two weeks ago), but I know being in a tournament atmosphere will inspire my competitive juices. I'm about 4 more weeks from hitting.
Phil's first singles match is tomorrow at 8:00 a.m and doubles starts Thursday. I'm excited to watch him play...it's been a while!
I needed this trip more than I realized.
