Catching up

I just realized that I never finished the results of the 50 clays a from a few weeks ago in West Palm Beach. Fran and I lost in the semis of the doubles, then won our playoff match to get a bronze ball. More importantly we had a couple of very good wins along the way. Looking back, I think we got to the semis in doubles of all three nationals we played in. Not too bad I guess.

Today I am traveling to San Antonio to play the Intersectionals. This is a team event and I will be playing for Florida's team, competing against other sections of the USTA in the 45's age group. The format is three singles and two doubles each match. I'm hoping to have some better results this week. My goal is to relax and play like I know I can.

Phil and I both played in the Naples/ Ft. Meyers Challenge last weekend. It's a fun event that draws hundreds of spectators to watch some of the best players from the area compete in a friendly rivalry. The Naples team captain had Phil playing singles in the 50's age group. He played a great match and won 4-6,6-3, 10-2 (breaker for the third). Joanne Russell and I won our doubles match in the 35's age group 6-1, 6-4. Naples won the overall match 12-9.

I'll be posting this week once our matches get underway.
