Final Results

As predicted, Florida's 60's team defeated the Southern team 4-1.  Unfortunately the only loss come from Phil's singles match this morning.  He says he played the worst tennis he's played in recent memory.  His opponent was a crafty, drop shotting, soft hitting player, which would be Phil's worst nightmare of a match.  Perhaps he wasn't as fired up for this match as he was the two previous matches, and that alone can spell trouble. He was understandably upset with his performance today.  I reminded him of the other five great matches he played this weekend, and that having a let down can be normal.  I know it doesn't make it right, but we've all done it....worked our butts off, played great only to have your last match ruin your week.  I still feel like he has made such great strides in his fitness and match skills these past few weeks.  He now has some good match play under his belt, that he can build on, as he prepares to leave for Boise in about ten days.

This event had a team from each of the four sections in the 55's, 60's and 65's.  Although Florida won the 60's division, Southern edged out Florida as the overall winner of the event by one match.  The two sections were tied with the overall match wins from all the divisions, and it came down to the third set of a 65 singles match between Armistead Neely and Jeff Moore.  Armi eeked out a third set win to give Southern the overall victory.

I'll post again when Phil leaves for Boise.
