First Official H/W Match

We were glad today had finally arrived. You can only prepare and practice so much, then you're ready to play. since our match wasn't until early afternoon, we had the luxury of sleeping in and taking our time to get to the courts. It was another perfect day, although there was a light overcast that kept the temperature from reaching the predicted high of 87. It was actually nice to have a little break from the bright sun. We were able to get quick warm up in on the hard courts before our match was called. Warming up before a match always helps me to ease those pre match jitters.

Our opponents were a very nice couple from near Portland, Oregon. They were good club players, but it was obvious we would not have trouble with this matchup. Phil and I practiced good habits from the beginning, and did just enough to stay sharp and focused. We won easily love and love. Each day the matches will get tougher, so we'll build on today and go from there. Tomorrow our toughest opponent will be the wind.....there are high wind warnings, predicting that the winds will be blowing 30 mph and gusting up to 60 mph....in Florida those winds would have a hurricane name associated with it! We play at 9:00 in the morning so hopefully the wind won't kick up til later.

We're off to meet our friends, Dave and Kim King from Clearwater, for dinner. Another fun day in Palm Springs!
