Another Birthday, Another Year

Hitting a milestone birthday makes you stop and think about your past, future, and everything in between. The first 50 years has certainly been filled with many twists and turns. Never did I imagine that when I came to Hidden Dunes fresh out of college, I'd still be here 26 years later. I love my job, and the people I work with and for. The friendships that have formed over the years with the people I have met through work, make my work seem like play...everyday.

Those are the same people who have picked me up each time life threw a curve ball....losing my Dad to cancer, divorce, dealing with the tragic loss of my Mom, the passing of my beloved dogs...and those friends are the same people who have celebrated my life's victories...too many to name. Through all the ups and downs, by far the most precious gift of all has been Phil. God answered my prayers of putting the perfect person in my life to love and balance me. Never before have I been treated with such unconditional love and respect. I have reached a point in my life that I am truly happy in all aspects of my life...mind, body and soul. If this is what 50 feels like, bring on the next 50 years!

Now for updates on Phil's injury and my heart:

I'm having my ablation procedure this Thursday in Birmingham....finally. It feels like this has been looming for so long. I'm so ready to have it and be done with it. Thank you in advance for your prayers. I feel certain everything will go just fine.

Phil on the other hand is in for a battle. Since my last post of over a month ago, Phil has had additional x-rays and an MRI. The x-ray showed a fracture of his left elbow, but no casting or immobilization needed, although it is very painful if he turns it a certain way. But more importantly, the MRI shows a "significant tear" in the rotator cuff of his right shoulder. Surgery is imminent. He has an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon at the Andrews Clinic in Gulf Breeze on Monday, June 20th. We may also get an opinion in St. Louis from the St. Louis Cardinals orthopedic guy, thanks to my brother. Phil has a good attitude and knows that he's in for a big challenge over the next year. Yes, it's a tough injury to deal with, but in the big scheme of things it's not so bad. We have friends who are dealing with life threatening illnesses. Phil's injury is fixable and he will play again. He still has goals to reach....mainly us playing in future husband/wife nationals.

My Dear Sweet Myke,

First, happy belated birthday. Hit the big 50! You'll be playing tennis for the next 50 years I am sure.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during your heart ablation. You are in excellent hands and I am sure that this go round every-thing will end up perfectly and you will be back on the court before you know it.

Phil, I am so sorry to hear about your elbow, and especially your rotator scheduled for repair. I'm sure you will recover from that completely and be back on the court before you know it.

My thoughts and prayers wre with both of you. Love, Tillie

Phil, did you think turning 60 would be so hard? Take care of yourself and mend quickly.
