It's been a whirlwind the past few days. Thankfully we're home safe and seemingly healthy. My ablation procedure went smoothly and according to Dr. Kay, successfully. Throughout the past 72 hours I could feel the power of prayers that were being sent my way. I never had a moment of angst or anxiety through the whole procedure or leading up to to it. UAB is a top notch, first class health facility. I knew I was exactly where I needed to be to take care of my problem. Phil was such a trooper through it all, once again enduring a long night in an uncomfortable hospital recliner/bed. Once released from the hospital yesterday, we both were anxious to get home. It was a tough drive home, mainly because he was so tired, and I felt "yucky" as the only way I could describe it. After what seemed like the longest 4 1/2 hours of our lives, we were home. I quickly fell into bed, and slept for about 14 hours straight. I awoke this morning feeling much better and happy to be home. Best news is the only medication I'm on is the blood thinner, and only for six more weeks. No more antiarrythmia drugs! Dr. Kay says I should feel noticeably better just being off that. Yipppppeeeeee!
I must thank EVERYONE who has called, texted, and emailed to check on me. Phil and I have been overwhelmed by your thoughts and concerns. Also a big thank you and hug to Bob Greene and to Gwynne and Bob Nauert for stopping by the hospital to visit me prior to my procedure. You helped calm my nerves and pass the time while waiting. I will never forget your thoughtfulness.
Now that I am "fixed", it's time to take care of Phil. We see a surgeon on Monday, and hope to formulate a plan to get him back on the road to recovery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we decide what is the best course of action to repair his shoulder.
