It seems that the weather we have had in Destin has been a preview of the weather for St. Pete the next day. Wednesday we had wind, then rain. St. Pete had the same Wednesday night into Thursday. Thursday we had wind and cooler temps. Same for St. Pete on Friday. Today we had a spectacular day, calm winds and bright sunshine. Tomorrow should be the same for St. Pete, which will make for perfect playing conditions for Phil in his singles final. He was able to handle the wind today and played well, beating Mike Dahm 6-4,6-0. Believe it or not, Mike's wife Tonya was texting me during the match to keep me posted on the score. How neat is that? I was on the court teaching when I received her first message that Phil had won the first set, and was up a break the first game of the second set. The next text says... "ur boy beat my boy". Pretty funny. Phil and Larry won their doubles easily love and love.
So tomorrow Phil and Larry have the singles final against each other. Since their last meeting a month ago in Sarasota , Phil has had this rematch on his mind. I can guarantee that Phil will be ready for a battle tomorrow. His singles match is at 9:30, and I believe they are going to try to play both semis and finals of the doubles tomorrow. I hope so, because I'm really ready for him to come home tomorrow night. Evert lost a tough match in the 65's semis and will play a playoff for third and fourth in the morning. David and his partner upset the #2 seed in the 65 doubles. It's great that all the guys are doing so well. I'm so proud of Phil and how well he's doing this early in the season. I predict a great year for Phil.
My precious little God dog, Lil' Bit, has been a under the weather and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Thank goodness it was caught early enough, and with some fluid treatments, antibiotics and TLC from her mommy Marilyn, she is feeling better. I love that little boo so much!
