The torrential rains that plowed through here during the day yesterday, moved into St. Pete overnight and early morning, leaving the courts wet and matches delayed. Phil's 9:30 a.m. match went on around 4:00 this afternoon. The only matches that played were main draw singles. All singles consolations and main draw doubles were canceled until tomorrow. Phil won fairly easy, I think he said the scores were maybe 6-2, 6-1. He said he played a little better today. Tomorrows semifinal will be against Mike Dahm, a good player from Dayton, Ohio. Mike is an aggressive serve and vollyer. It should prove to be a tough match. Because of the rain delay, the doubles are a round behind, so Phil and Larry will play their quarterfinal doubles tomorrow afternoon. Evert Jonsson won his quarterfinal singles match in the 65's and will be playing in the semis tomorrow as well.
We had our winter guest farewell party tonight. It was a great evening of dancing, laughing, fun and fellowship. I always find myself mentally and physically exhausted by this time of year, but being with these wonderful people makes it all so worthwhile. They have all touched my life in so many different ways. I feel so blessed to be doing what I do, and even more blessed by who I surround myself with everyday. God has been so good to me.
