Rain, Rain Go Away

This is by far the worst winter we've had in my 25 years in Destin. Not only copious amounts of rain, but temperatures well below normal. We had frozen courts for ten straight days in early January. Since then we've had a few nice days, but as a whole it's been either cold, cloudy or rainy. I shouldn't complain too much, we never have to shovel anything, and it could be much worse. We get spoiled by our usual warm weather and come to expect it day in and day out. I've kept my workouts with Geoff going off court, and Phil has been great about enduring the colder temps to hit with me as well. He really misses indoor tennis!

My clay court nationals in Houston are exactly two weeks away. I'm starting to get the fever for competition again. It's been a while. I'm excited that Fran Chandler and I are playing doubles together. We've wanted to for some time, but it just never seemed to work out. Not only is she a great player, she's a great person and friend. We should make a formidable team, and most importantly we'll have fun!
