Great Finish

Even though the Northern Cal team was only able to field two singles players and one doubles team, we still had to do our part to win. I knew I'd be in for a tough match with Carolyn at #1 and Susie would have her hands full at #2. I got off to a good start, determined to not get into too many long ball rallies. I was patient, and waited for opportunities to sneak in to finish points.
I used all parts of the courts and different paces successfully. I ended up winning 6-1, 6-3. I was very pleased with my play. Susie lost a tough three setter, but we were able to clinch the match with my win. Mary and Tracie played the lone doubles match against the last two Nor Cal girls standing and won in three sets. Our team finished third, just as we were seeded. I enjoyed every minute of the event, even the nine hour drive. I renewed friendships and made new friends along the way.
Home now to get back to work. Thanksgiving week is always a busy week at Hidden Dunes. The two year anniversary of my Mom's passing is next week. A day doesn't go by that I don't think about her. She would have loved being in Naples this week with all the girls and tennis. I miss her terribly.

I firmly believe your Mom's spirit is around you every day, still being a part of your life. It's hard for you to not be able to hug her, but remember she is in a place more special than we could ever imagine. Love you, m
