After one of the best nights sleep that I´ve had in a while, I met Fran and Mary for breakfast before heading over for an early hit. Phil and his team were hitting mid morning, then hanging out at the courts for another hit in the afternoon. There is a shuttle that runs on a schedule to transport players to their respective sites. I haven´t been to the Tennis Ranch Palmanova yet, which is where the mens´s Austria Cup will be playing. The Margaret Court Cup will be playing at Santa Ponca (pronounced "ponsa"). Both sites are about 15 minutes away and each has about 8-10 red clay courts. The courts here play a little faster and seem to have truer bounces than the red clay of Turkey. There is not as much clay on the surface of these courts. I really like the feel of them.
The weather today has been a little overcast and cool, maybe about 65-70. There may be a chance of rain in the next day or two. After the morning hit I came back to the hotel and walked around the little shops and restaurants that are near the hotel. Seems to be a lot of British tourists here. I did find a Burger King and McDonalds in walking distance. I also brought a jar of peanut butter and bread as a back up! Hope dinner tonight at the hotel is better than last night.
I´m having trouble with the wireless connections at both the hotel and the courts so I haven´t been able to post pictures yet. I´m using the computer at the hotel for the time being. More and more players are starting to arrive. The opening ceremonies for the team competition is tomorrow evening with play beginning on Monday.
