First Match

I finally got to play today and glad to have my first match under my belt. I won easily 6-1, 6-0. Phil played at the same time, two courts down, and beat his Russian opponent 6-3, 6-2. Afterwards we roamed around finding other American players and cheered them on. There are quite a few US players who either stayed on from the team event or came over just for the individuals playing this week. We are all watching each other and supporting their play when we can. Another very warm, sunny day here which played to my advantage. My opponent was from France and she said the heat was tough for her to take. Tomorrow I play a girl from Spain, and Phil plays a big hitter from Austria. Our matches are staggered throughout the day so we'll be able to watch each other play. Phil and Tom also have doubles match in the afternoon. Mariana and I are in the quarters and play the winner of a match that plays tomorrow. Tonight we had dinner at the beach restaurant with about 15 other players from the states. It's such a beautiful setting, hearing the surf and having the moonlight shine on the Mediterranean.
