The Call

I finally got "the call" last night from Carol Wood, USTA representative for the Margaret Court Cup. I was selected to play on the team and represent the USA in Turkey in October! I am so excited and relieved to finally know. Phil received his call about 10 days ago...of course I fretted and worried that night when I didn't hear anything, only to learn the women's selections weren't being made until June 17th. When I left Turkey last year, I knew I'd be back to play the World Individuals and hoped I'd be part of the team competition, but you just never know. Now that we both know for sure, we have about four months to kick it into a higher gear and get ready. Everything I've been doing on and off the court has been with World Championships in the back of my mind. My goals were to get stronger and fitter on the court. I know for sure I have accomplished those goals through my workouts, but there is still work to be done. I have the Grass and Hard Court Nationals to play before Turkey gets here. I had know idea when I received the call last year, how my life would change for the better. I'm going to Turkey with new dreams and aspirations and I feel so lucky to have someone to share it all with.
