This blog will allow me to journal my experiences both on and off the court in upcoming tournaments and travels.

Changing Gears
It's hard to believe I've been back for two weeks from being with Phil and playing in Indianapolis. Summer season has kicked in at work, so I'm back to balancing teaching, workouts with Geoff, and hits with Renee. I've started hitting some on the grass courts at Sandestin. Chris, the pro at Sandestin, has given me free reign to use them as much as I'd like. Renee and I were over last week for the first time, and plan to get there again this week. Geoff and I will try to do a few workouts on the grass as well. The footing and the feel underfoot are so different than the clay or hard courts. I must work on staying low to the ground (no jokes, please, that I'm already "low" to the ground, or I don't have much further to get low to the ground because of my height...or lack there of!) Anyway....I'm going to work on taking the ball early, staying low and moving forward. I also plan to work on my serve. A good slice serve out wide can be very effective on the grass. Since grass is one of Phil's stronger surfaces, I hope that he will be able to get here in time to work with me as well. Nationals start 4 weeks from today. I'm exciting at the thought of playing a tournament again soon!
