Lots Of Wind

I was hoping to wake up feeling refreshed today, but I didn't sleep as soundly as I'd hoped. My internal alarm woke me at the usual 4:30-5:00 a.m. time. I tried to fight it, but ended up getting up around 6. After having breakfast downstairs and seeing some of my friends, I headed to the courts. It was sunny to start the day, then the winds and clouds moved in by late morning. I was able to join in on a court to hit with Susie Brown, Mary Johnson and Martha Downing for a while this morning. It felt good to be on the court and striking the ball. The skies became more threatening throughout the day. A few showers passed through as the winds became more gusty...20-25 mph. I had made plans to hit with Trish Riddel and Kerry Young this afternoon. We got on a court around 2:30 and had a great hit. I felt better on the court this afternoon than I did this morning. I've had quite a few players (friends) express their sympathy about Mom. Mom would have been here with me this week. She loved this tournament...any tournament for that matter. She would hang out at the courts with me all day watching matches, and chatting with the girls. We'd have an early dinner, that was always followed by a heated game of Scrabble. Now, it seems awfully quiet and lonely here at the hotel. I realize more everyday how important she was in my life and what a gigantic void I have now. My only saving grace is knowing that Phil will be here on Tuesday afternoon to help get me through this week. Otherwise, I don't know if I could do this on my own.
