Heading Home
Sort of a good news/bad news post for today. We went into our doubles in the finals against Southern down 2-1 after singles. The singles victory was mine against Marianna. I played one of the best matches of my career and won convincingly 6-1, 6-0. I knew we had a shot at both doubles matches to win the tournament. Mary and JoAnne were up a set on the number 1 team, but unfortunately Susan and I lost to a tough number two team, so they clinched the victory. Mary and JoAnne ending up splitting sets, and Southern defaulted the third set since the overall match had been decided. Our final team score was Southern 3, Florida 2. I was thrilled with my singles victory, but I was very disappointed that I had let my team down in doubles. It's all a team effort and I had a great group of players on my team. We had a super week of tennis and camaraderie with all the players. This is such a fun event and a wonderful way to end my year of competitive tennis. I'll continue my hard work on and off the court with Phil, Renee and Geoff and look forward to next year. I promise there are some and fun exciting events coming early in the season! Stay tuned.........
