Singles Sweep

A captain's job is made much easier when all three singles win to clinch a match. Team Florida played very well and won all three singles against No. California today. JoAnne won at #1, 6-3,6-2. I won at #2, 6-1, 6-4. Then Susan went on after JoAnne and I finished. She lost a tough first set in a tiebreaker, then with some good coaching and support from all of the team, she went on to win 6-3, 6-4. It was a little nerve wracking to say the least. A couple of our girls are double rostered, meaning they can play on the 35's team as well. Since we had clinched our place in the 45 finals, the 35's needed Mary in their doubles line up. They were up 2-1 against Texas in their semis. The plan worked for the 35's as Mary and Trish won their doubles to secure a spot in the 35 finals tomorrow. JoAnne and I won in three sets at #1, while our #2 team of Francis and Susie lost. We play the number one seeds, Southern tomorrow. They have an exceptionally strong team, but you never know. My match against Marianna will be super tough, but I'm ready. The weather was perfect today, and will be again tomorrow. We play at 8 in the morning again, with doubles to follow immediately after the singles, instead of a lunch break in between. Depending on what time I finish, I may start my way back home or wait to make the full drive on Monday morning. I'll just wait and see.
