This blog will allow me to journal my experiences both on and off the court in upcoming tournaments and travels.

It' Like Waiting For Christmas
I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas to get here! It seems like time has been passing so slowly the past couple of weeks. I've been working out twice a week on the grass courts in preparation for Philadelphia. I feel like I've adjusted well and have a good feel for the surface. Watching Wimbledon the past few days has been helpful. It's good to see that the top players in the world can have a hard time with the unpredictable bounces of the grass. The grass can be very humbling...just when you think you're all set up to make a shot, the ball will skid under, over, or around your racquet. It can leave you feeling a little silly. Fluke shots will happen on both sides during a match, so you just expect it and move on. Phil feels like the serve and service return are especially important on grass. I've really been hitting a lot of serves, working on placement. When I get to Columbus next week, I'm sure he'll have me hitting lots of returns. Renee and I will get in couple of more good workouts before I leave on Wednesday. All I know is I'm ready to play!
