Yes. I’ve finally decided I can do this. I’ll never know if I’m actually ready until I try. I’ve put my time in on and off the court,...practicing, training and getting fit. So here we go!
This trip almost didn’t happen. In my eagerness to get ready, I over did my training. I developed tennis elbow and shoulder tendinitis. This past week I was able to see our great PT friend, Jorge and orthopedist, Dr Guerra. Jorge did an awesome job treating me and Dr Guerra was, thankfully, very candid telling me he did not want to give me a cortisone shot, fearing tendon tears.
So I’m all taped up, and have all the right braces and ready for my first round. I’m doing something I haven’t done since I was kid playing tournaments. I haven’t checked my draw to see who I play. I only know my time is Tuesday at 7:45 am (early I’m sure due to the desert heat). We play doubles on Thursday. Again, no idea against who. I didn’t want to fret for a week against who I was playing. I just wanted to practice and have fun with no preconceived thoughts. I kind of like doing it this way. We’ll see how it works out for me.
I’ll be posting as the week goes on. I miss Phil and Ellie already.
