Doubles Win, Singles.....

I decided to do a Cardio Tennis class this morning offered by the club where Phil is playing.  It ran a little longer than I had hoped, but fortunately I only missed one game of Phil’s singles match.   It was a good workout for me and I enjoyed it.

I saw he was up 1-0 and by the time I found my spot to watch he was up 3-0.  He played very well the first set and won it 6-2 hitting freely and keeping the guy on the ropes.  Phil got broken early in the second set, and couldn’t get it back. His opponent was playing better and better and seemed to be thriving on Phil’s pace. He had a slice that stayed low and and started painting the lines. He just wasn’t missing. They split sets. On to the third....

Phil looked like he had what he needed to win the third. A crucial sixth game hurt him and he couldn’t quite recover.   He lost the third set 6-4. ☹️

This was my view behind his court today.

Phil and Tom (who won his singles) only had a short break before doubles.  They were able to win rather quickly with no problems. Tomorrow they have a good team in the quarters to play. Phil is still on his journey back to being one of the best singles guys around.  The losses are hard to take, but it’s all part of the process. Easier said than done, I know.

It’s ok though. I’ll never let him fall.
