Finally Played!

After weeks and weeks of practice. And a couple of days of practice here, Phil and Tom finally played their first doubles match of the World Championships!

Tom had a singles match this morning that he won.  Phil was able to get a short warmup in before they played their 1:30 match.  The team they played was from Mexico. Phil knew one of the guys from the days of college tennis.  Many of these players have been around the tennis scene for a lot of years.  Phil and Tom played well and focused from the first to the last point  There was no doubt they were in control of the match.  They won 6-1, 6-1.

From a spectator's point of view...it's HOT!! Wow it's hot here.  No beach breeze. Nothing but intense heat, reflecting off the sidewalks around the facility. A few clouds in and out, but that's about it.  I hope the USTA will eventually invest in some nice canopies like we have at Tarpon Cove. Those would be welcomed by players and spectators.

The planes flew low again today, which is still a marvel to me.  Below is a picture of the latest low flying plane and a picture of Phil rocking his serve!
