Phil is back at it again. He left this morning for St. Pete to play a Cat ll national. He is playing with first year 65's player Tom Smith. Tom and Phil have had great success in years past. Together they won a "grand slam", winning all four nationals in the 60's age group. Phil also won three of the four singles national titles that same year. He did not play singles in the fourth. Point being, Phil and Tom make an exceptional doubles team.
Their first match was today, which they won 6-3, 6-3. The first couple of rounds shouldn't be too tough. Beginning Thursday (semis) and Friday (finals) they'll have some tough matches.
His knee continues to be a slight issue. He still complains of it being creaky, achy and unstable. He is trying to do work in the gym to strengthen the muscles supporting it.
I just happy he is away from work for a few days and back on the tournament scene. That's what he loves to do. I wish I could be with him, but we still have a pretty busy work schedule. We have about 9 more weeks of season left, then together we can be back at it!
