He's Back!

Phil played his first "big" tournament since his surgery in March. It was a category ll played in Longboat Key, and he only played doubles. He and his partner Larry weren't challenged until the finals.

According to Phil, he rated his play at about a "B". He thought he volleyed well, returned well, but thought his serve was off. I think the more he plays the serve will come along. Larry and Phil won the finals today 7-6, 7-5. They were down 4-1 in the first set and came back to win the set in a breaker. In the second set they were down 5-1, before winning the next 6 games, to win the set and match.

This was a great environment for Phil to play his first tournament. A lot of his buddies were there, it was close to home, and he had a tough match to compete in. I'm really proud of the time and effort he has put into get himself back in action. This was his last tournament in the 60's. Now it's on to a new year and new age group.

I have a good feeling about the upcoming tennis year.
