The Big Easy

I put Phil on a plane this morning to New Orleans to play his National Clay Courts.  Because I can't fly yet, and still needing some rest, I stayed home.  I'm working an abbreviated schedule these days, in the pro shop only, as our fall season is starting to ramp up.  I would have loved to have gone to New Orleans, because I love to watch Phil play, and he's never been there before.  Phil made the wise decision to only play doubles in this event (with Paul Wulf).  He did not feel he had been able to put in the necessary training time on and off the court to play competitively in both singles and doubles. Phil has been an unbelievable caretaker, spirit lifter, a great source of comic relief and loving husband and friend through all my post stroke issues.  I hope he can let go of all that for a few days, and find that fiery competitiveness to go out and play some great tennis!

He and Paul are seeded third in a very strong draw of doubles teams.  Their first match is Tuesday afternoon. I'll be posting his results this week as he calls them in to me.  Check back Tuesday night!

Go Cardinals!!!
