Sweaty Palms

I discovered today that when I get extremely nervous, my palm sweat profusely.  Not just a little damp, I mean a running river down my life line.  I had plenty to be nervous about today while watching Phil play his semis singles and then his semis of the doubles.

In his singles against Tom, he played brilliant.  He stayed to plan, serving and volleying, hitting his spots on his serve and getting the ball to Tom's backhand when he could.  He won the first set 6-3. The break in the second set came at 2-2.  Phil then held to go up 4-2. Serving at 4-3 Phil quickly double faulted the first two points away.  But then he fired four great first serves and won the game to stay up a break 5-3.  He had a great return game against Tom's serve and went up 15-40, and thankfully won his first match point.  Whew!

The doubles was not close til the end of the second set.  Geoff and Phil played flawlessly the first set and won 6-1.  The second set got close.  They were able to break at 5-5 and have Geoff serve out for the win.

So now he has two finals tomorrow.  Phil and Geoff play each other in the singles, then they will play Tom Smith and Marty Pearson in the doubles final.

Should be another fun day of sweaty palms!!!
