Seriously?

How the day started:

How the day ended:

We're at the airport, waiting on our flight, and we can't wait to get home to dry, warm weather. I have to say this week of crummy weather in Atlanta makes me so appreciative of the warm tropical climate of Naples. I know this cold dampness is not normal for this time of year, but my thinning blood is not cut out for multiple days of it!

Matches got started around 10 this morning in a foggy mist. The clouds finally broke mid day and the sun actually came out and warmed things nicely. I was down to one layer and wearing sunglasses! Phil and his singles opponent mutually decided to not play the playoff for 3 & 4 because they both had doubles to play. Phil and Tom got on around 3:00 for their semis final doubles match. All the doubles were shortened to two sets with a 10 point tiebreaker because of the weather issues. They always have a close match with Neal and Larry and today was no different. Tom and Phil won the first set 6-4, lost the second set 6-4 then won the tiebreaker 10-8. My heart was racing!

By the time they finished around 4:45 the clouds had started to gather and temperatures started dropping. Back on went the layers. Phil and Tom played really well in the final match and won the first set 7-5. Rumbles of thunder could be heard in the background, and sprinkles started falling. Seriously? They were able to get one more game in before the skies opened up again. There was no way the match could finish outdoors and there were no indoor courts available. So the match was called. Disappointing they couldn't finish off what they started, but happy for the way they played. I'm proud of the way Phil competed and the great effort he gave in all his matches this week.

Now it's back home to quieter days at work, and to get myself fit and healthy to play again. Looking forward to sunnier days ahead.

PHONE HOME ET!! Hope you are warmly back in
Paradise. Phil did well particularly under the
circumstances. One of the reasons we aren't doing
any big trips thisi year is that we were so turned off
by bad weather and cold on our last cruise that we
just want to be home! Now focus on you! Talk soon
