Today Phil played his doubles partner,Geoff, in the quarters of the singles. He said he didn't play well, and lost 6-4, 6-3. Geoff has a big powerful game, and today Phil felt like he wasn't going for his shots, and played tentatively. Phil needs to get off the clay and back on the hard courts that he loves so much!
A couple of hours later, Geoff and Phil teamed together to win their semi final match against the same team they beat last week in the Sterling Oaks final. This was the fourth week in a row that Phil had played the team of Howie Ames and Steve Schriener. I'm sure they are tired of seeing Phil on the other side of the net!
The doubles final will be played on Saturday, so he'll have a day off tomorrow to watch the singles semis, and get some practice time in. It's awfully quiet at home and at work without him around...I'll be ready for him to come home Saturday...hopefully a winner!

So glad to see that Phil is back in competition. Sorry your wrist is still painful. You are going to have to do something about it. Phil is still playing his strong game of tennis. He will be the top player in his age category before you know it. Congratulations to a great player!
