Revenge

Phil never forgets a loss, and since losing to Jeff Feldman earlier this year, that match has been on his mind. He had the opportunity today to revenge the loss, and boy did he. Their match was scheduled for 2:00, and Phil called right before they were going on. I barely had time to be nervous before the phone rang around 3:15. Phil won 6-1, 6-2. He said he played very well...served and returned well, drop shotted, served and volleyed, a good mixture of everything. My heart jumped when he said he felt like his old self playing again. Hallelujah!

Tomorrows quarterfinal match will be a similar style to today's match. Mark Mazo is a quick, jack rabbit type player who moves well, dinks, and doesn't really have a lot of weapons, but will drive you crazy getting everything back. Phil will be highly motivated to bring his "A" game to the courts tomorrow against "No show Mazo".

Phil and Armistead won their first round doubles today. Quarter finals tomorrow.
