Moving On

With much improved weather conditions yesterday, Phil won both his singles and doubles matches will little problem. In singles he played a player that he knew nothing about...which is a little unusual, because Phil seems to know EVERYBODY!  Playing an unknown opponent can be tough, because you have figure out a game plan from the warm up and sort of wing it.  Phil got a little nervous in the warm up, because the guy looked really good.  Once play started though, his opponent seemed nervous and unsure, throwing in a lot of double faults and unforced errors. Always a welcome sight. Phil won easily 6-1. 6-1.  He and Neal played a good doubles semis and won 7-6, 6-4.  The finals of doubles will be today against Tom Smith and Mark Harrison, a very good team, but a very winnable match for Phil and Neal.  Phil will first face a really strong player in the quarters of the singles.  In the past he has had some battles with Jim Malhame.  Phil sounds confident and has a game plan, so I like his chances.  That match plays at 10:00 this morning.
