The weather in New York is definitely different than the soupy, muggy humid weather we've been having in Naples. Cooler temperatures are nice to play in, but throw in some gusty winds and that changes the whole picture.
Phil played his first round singles today and won 6-2, 6-2. He said the wind was really tough. I could hear it blowing in his cell phone when he called after his match. Neal and Phil then played their doubles match, and again the wind was still going strong, but they managed to win 6-3, 6-4. Phil felt like he played well in both matches. He will play his round of 16 singles match tomorrow at 11:00, then he and Neal will play the semis finals of the doubles. If Phil gets through his singles tomorrow, the remaining of the matches will be very tough. He is very much up for the task, and is highly motivated. I just hope my nerves can take it all!
