Florida vs Texas

Phil and his teammates defeated a very tough Texas team yesterday.  Playing number two singles, behind Larry Turville, Phil beat Tony Dawson in three sets.  He said he started out a nervous and lost the first set.  He then settled in and rode an early break to win the second set 6-1, then won the third 6-2.  Phil didn't feel like he played particularly well, but he fought hard and grinded it to the end.  Clay court tennis is always a battle for Phil.  He much prefers to end the points quicker, but finds it difficult to do it on clay. Larry won his singles match, and Joe Boquin won his match at number three, so team Florida swept the singles to win the match.  Now they will play Midwest.  In fact today, they will not only play their singles and doubles against Midwest, but they will also play their doubles matches against Southern, late this afternoon.  That will leave tomorrow with just the singles against Southern.  All these matches are great warm ups to get ready for Boise, New York and Atlanta.

While Phil is away, I'm staying busy at work teaching, running round robins, etc in the mornings, then doing important things in the afternoon...like getting a pedicure, car washed, furniture shopping....you know...important things!
