Beginning To Defend

Phil and Tom won this tournament last year, and today they started their defense of the title.  Phil knew that the team they would play would be a tough first round.  He just called to say that they won the match 6-1, 6-2.  Phil is always brutally honest about how he plays in each match.  He'll be first to say if he played well, and the first to say if he stunk it up.  He felt like he played fair, but that Tom played extremely well.  They were glad they had a tough match from the get go, to get them into the mindset that every round will be a battle.  The weather in Palm Springs will be a challenge.  It looks like the high winds that we experienced a few weeks ago, are blowing again this week.  There's no use in fighting it.  It's best to learn how to embrace the wind and use it to your advantage.

It seems like Phil has been away forever! I really miss him when he's not here, but I'm so happy that he is back playing tournament tennis again. As we always say. It's what we do.  Update tomorrow.
