Day 1, Part 2

Phil and I arrived in Palm Springs around noon today. I was eager to see in person the place I've read about and seen on TV a million times. It is a beautiful part of the country...the mountain backdrop almost seems like it's painted in the background. With little to no humidity, the skies are clear, cloudless and bright blue. Obviously being in the desert, the colors are brown and barren. Beautiful in it's own way, but I still prefer the flora of southwest Florida.

We were able to get a great hit in on the grass courts today at Mission Hills. These grass courts are like none I've ever played on....hard, compact, no bad bounces...almost like a perfect putting green. It didn't take us long to get on the bounce, which is much quicker than a clay court. Both of our games are better suited for faster surfaces, so the grass surface will favor our styles of play.

Tomorrow we will get in another hit, then maybe head over to check out the qualifying matches for the Indian Wells Pro tournament.
