He's Back

Phil has made it to the other side of his 8 month recovery from rotator cuff surgery. Today he won his first tournament back, playing a Category II national doubles event in Sarasota with partner Tom Smith. He actually played two events, 55's and 60's doubles, playing with Hugh Thompson in the 55's and Tom in the 60's. I was concerned about him playing two events in his first tournament back, which meant two matches a day over the course of three or four days. Phil thought match play was important, so he went for it. He and Hugh lost in the semi's of the 55's in a tough three setter, but Tom and Phil continued their dominance as a great doubles team, and won the finals 6-2, 6-1. Aside from "general soreness", Phil feels surprisingly good, with no shoulder issues at all. Praise God!

Now we turn our sights on Palm Springs and the National Husband/Wife Grass courts coming up in early March. We can't wait!

So glad to read that Phil played and won the 50's. I'm sure he will continue winning many tournaments. Good luck in your first couples match. Tillie
