Better Finish

I had resolved to leave my negativity behind from Saturday's match, and look ahead to Sunday's playoff match with a better mindset. After waiting around all day for the singles matches to be played, then waiting for Mary and Trish to play their 40's doubles final, I was ready to play. We were the last match of the tournament to go on, and there were only a handful of spectators around...mostly tournament refs and a few club members. From the first game of the match I stayed focused, played within myself and kept my feet moving. What a difference. The team we played was a good team, but Mary and I played extremely well individually and as a team. We won 6-2, 6-3. My serve and return of serve were much improved. I take away a little something different from every match and overall tournament experience. I think I'm getting closer to wanting to do what it takes to get back successfully on the singles court. I love doubles, but I also like playing singles and competing one on one. After our work season quiets down in another 10-12 weeks, I'll get serious about singles. Until then, I'll continue to improve on my doubles game, with my sights set on the Husband/Wife Grass court nationals in Palm Springs in March.

I don't want to just do good!

I was one of the BallenIsles isles residents who watched all your matches and it was such a treat to watch. Great serves, volleys and movement.

Congrats on your 3rd place doubles win!! That's nothing to sneeze at. AND welcome back to the singles mindset..I'm sure the other singles players in your division are all saying..."dang it!!"
