Since returning from Boca on Sunday night, the past two days have been a blur. The team finished strong in our playoff match with Texas. We decided, as a team, that we would shake up our line up. We kept Rita and Julie at one and two, and I made my singles debut at number three. Rita lost a tough match to top ranked Shelly Works, while Julie beat Kathy Vick. I fought hard, and actually played very well, and won against Vicki Buholtz, 6-4, 6-4. We went into doubles up 2-1. Mary and Kim played and lost at number one, and our surprise duo of Julie and Susan pulled out a win for team Florida at the number two position. They played great, and it was a true team effort making that win happen. So much fun! I've been pretty sore the last day or so from playing singles, but it sure felt good to back on the singles court.
Phil got great news from the doctor about his shoulder. After 6 months from the injury and 5 months from surgery, he's gotten the release to start hitting again. We'd been hitting lightly for the past few days, but knowing he is officially through all the PT and made it through to the end, is a big relief. Our mantra from the beginning has been, "one day closer to being back on the court"....."one day" is finally here!
