All's Well That Ends Well

Well, I never really got to blog again after our rain out on Saturday. Fran did get to play her singles, but we never resumed our doubles that we had started on Friday. Just as we were going to play on Saturday afternoon, the rains came...again. The opposing team said they weren't staying to play, so we moved on to the semis to be played on Sunday after Fran's singles. She lost a tough final to Diane Fishburne in three sets. We started our doubles match knowing that Fran had a flight to catch in Ft. Lauderdale and needed to be gone by 3:30. We played very well against Erin Boynton and Abbi Neuthaler and won 6-3, 6-3. Our opponents for the back draw final were there and ready to play, but we knew we couldn't play and have Fran make her flight, so we recorded the score as a win for Erin and Abbi, so they could stay and play the final. I felt good about the way I finished. I still have a lot to work on, but compared to how I started the week, I was happy with the final day.

My next event will be playing on the Florida team at the Intersectionals being held in Boca Raton in about three weeks. I will be playing on the 45's team with six other top Florida players. I may attempt singles if needed, but more than likely will only play doubles.

Phil and I both have a lot of work to do to get ourselves ready for the upcoming year. We are both determined and ready to put in the time and effort it takes to play at the highest level we can. It's what we do.
