Heading West and More

Phil has decided to head west to Palm Springs to play the national hard courts. The hard courts at Indian Wells are very gritty and very slow, which tends to cause injuries to alot of the players, so as he's done many times in the past, he is only going to play doubles. He and Tom have had a great year, and if they do well, will end the year ranked #1. I wish like crazy I could go, but we are leaving a week after he returns to go to Denver for Thanksgiving to visit his brother and sister. Next year his 60's hard courts are at Mission Hills in Palm Springs, and my 50 hard courts are in La Jolla. I'll have plenty of opportunities to slum around Southern California in the next 5 years either playing or watching. The draws to Phil's tournament are to be posted today and as usual, I will put a link to them to the right of this post.

I've been out of my boot for a week now. I started some easy hitting yesterday. I have to say it felt pretty good. I don't have pain in my heel, but I'm very tentative on moving on the court. I think that slowly my confidence will grow. I've missed hitting and playing. I'm ready to get going again. I had an acupuncture treatment on Wednesday. Oh my gosh...it was pretty cool! I loved my doctor...Dr. Woo. So funny, and so caring and so sure he could help me. Having never experienced such a thing, I wasn't sure what to expect. At this point in my life, I'll try just about anything.....just about I said. I'd do the acupuncture again in a heartbeat. Whether or not it helps, I don't know, but it's always worth a try.

Today we are picking up the ping pong table we bought on an impulse earlier in the week. "Ping Pong Saturday" starts later today. Ever seen a grown man cry?!? I love to play, as does he. We both grew up playing during rain delays in our junior tournament days. Plus my neighbor across the street where I grew up had one, and I played endlessly there as a kid, taking down all the neighborhood boys!!! I'm sure pictures will follow.
